So, in my tradition of vidding maybe twice every year, I'm trying to make another vid and experimenting with yet another Linux non-linear video editor. It's a barrel of laughs, let me tell you. It got bad enough with this new one that I switched back to an older one, which is hopefully a lot more stable this release than it was when I last tried to use it.

On the other hand, I have just discovered/rediscovered New Order as a surprisingly good (if somewhat 80s) band.

Age of Consent is one of the most amazing pop songs ever:

And I love how they straddle the weird line between dance music and rock music:

They get more poppy and 80s as time goes on, but I still have a fond affection for that era as well. They're also a band that I want to vid at some point. Maybe. I don't know. But their lyrics are somewhat incongruous with their music which means that it's tough for me to find a good match. In my head at least.

Meme stolen from [livejournal.com profile] genx88, Comment with the name of a character or a pairing in a fandom, and I will post you an instant mini-fanmix: 3-5 songs that remind me of them.

Also, my mom and I made sushi this morning. It was good.

Because all the cool people are doing it (and by the cool people, I mean [livejournal.com profile] zauberer_sirin), song recs.

Mashups, because mashups are cool.

Outkast vs. Queen - Hey We Will Rock You (Hey Ya vs. We Will Rock You) - amazingly dancable and it's just plain awesome on so many levels. One of my all time favorites.

The Clash vs. The Killers - Somebody Rock Me (Rock the Casbah vs. Somebody Told Me) - Also quite funky and fun by two of my favorite rock groups.

Kelly Clarkson vs. Led Zepplin - Behind These Immigrant Eyes (Behind These Hazel Eyes vs. The Immigrant Song) - I'm irrationally drawn to the really bizarre mashups, and this is one of them. It's really good, all the more so for being able to mashup up Kelly Clarkson and Led Zepplin.

Christina Aguilera vs. The Strokes - A Stroke of Genius (Genie in a Bottle vs. Hard To Explain) - A true classic. Makes Christina Aguilera listenable.

The Soggy Bottom Boys vs. Gwen Stefani - Constant Sorrow Hollaback Girl (Man of Constant Sorrow vs. Hollaback Girl) - Weird, interesting and cool. It's fun just listening to see how they mesh up.

And just for [livejournal.com profile] xaeris and [livejournal.com profile] bursar42,
All Your Base Rhapsody - (All Your Base vs. Bohemian Rhapsody) - Just watch it. No really. Just watch it.
