There was a book fair. I was weak.
Teh list:
The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood - I am so not going to ever read about dystopias ever again. Like, ever. That shit is scary, yo.
Lamb by Christopher Moore - recced by
crazythorn, who I worship. Plus, he's been compared to Douglas Adams and Kurt Vonnegut, which is definitely a good sign that I'll like it. Might have to read it immediately after I finish Handmaiden's Tale, if only so I don't go slightly insane.
Do Bless You, Mr. Rosewater by Kurt Vonnegut - Have never read it, but as it is one of Vonnegut's more well known books, I figured I should.
Lyra's Oxford by Philip Pullman - I didn't even know it existed until
evilmogget told me, but it's more His Dark Materials, so I absolutely had to get it. Unfortunately, I haven't read His Dark Materials in a while, so I should probably do that first, before I read this one.
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Some Guy. A rec from
mod_alcyone. I'm not sure what it's about (psychiatric ward?), but I'm sure it's good. Pretty sure, at least.
The Best American Short Stories by Various. I don't read enough short stories (fanfic doesn't count, damnit), and I figure that they're at least decent if they're considered "the best" by someone, right?
I need to remember that I have a concert tonight. 7 o' clock.
