I think it is a horror story, which is apparently what I write in John POV. HA. It is about the psychological horror of what John does, and about the psychological horror of having to live with it afterwards.

And yes, the ending is extremely ambiguous. I personally like my own 'kidnapped by bears' theory myself. :p
