Intelligence=/=genius. If you have to work at it? It's not genius.

Between this and the ridiculously offensive "I like being a bully!" Mary-Sue-bashing post of yours, all I can draw as a conclusion is that you want fiction about boring, average and ordinary people. You don't want fiction about exceptional people.

If that's true, fine. Read fiction in the right fucking genres.

But the boring/average/everyone is a fucking bore genre isn't for all of us.

Fantasy and sci-fi isn't the place for ordinary - be it powers/intelligence/destiny/whatever. That's why comics have Tony Stark. Because they also have Superman. That's why Trek has Mary Sues in their Original Characters - because they also have Jim Kirk.

If you don't like it, find a genre that suits your "ordinary people" fetish. But don't expect the genres to change for you.

Because that makes me think you're an entitled asshat, which is the exact kind of fan who needs to go DIAF.
