Trailers Part II: Attack of the Trailers

I love trailers. A lot. Thoughts + links to some of the more recent ones.

Superman Returns:
I'm not really much of a Superman fan. I've never seen more than half an hour of the originals, but really, the trailer gave me chills. The voice over works really well, and I can't get over how gorgeous the image of Superman in front of the sun is. Also, I can't help but think that the shot of young Clark falling through the roof as a shout out to the Batman Begins trailers, which makes me happy for some strange, unspecified reason.

Will I see it? Most likely.

Memoirs of a Geisha:
Zhang Zhiyi is gorgeous. Like, really gorgeous. But with blue eyes, she just looks really creepy, though that might be the director's going "Look! She has blue eyes! Look at how blue they are! It's a plot point and everything!" and making them so blue they look really unnatural. I don't remember much of the book, and I don't think I liked it that much. (I didn't really dislike it either, just didn't think much of it.) But I think any movie that re-teams Michelle Yeoh and Zhang Zhiyi is on my "cool" list.

Will I see it? If I'm bored and / or dragged by someone else.

Munich:
Interesting. I don't know much about the background (just the general information), but I am intrigued. Spielberg? Kuschner? I have a good appreciation of both, but we shall see. I'd like to get a better sense of the characters from the trailer, but that just may be my ignorance showing through.

Will I see it? I'm on the fence. Not quite sure.

Lady in the Water:
Hmm... I love this trailer. There's already palatable sense of mood in a few simple shots, and the music is lovely and gorgeous. I like M. Night Shyamalan, from the Sixth Sense, at least. I'm still not quite sure how I feel about The Village, and I still haven't seen Unbreakable and Signs. This is promising, however, so I might give it a chance. If we get a longer trailer I might be a little more pumped. Or not. We'll see.

Will I see it? Depends on the reviews.
