Fic Muzak (aka OMG FREE MP3s)
Basically, all the music that's inspired my fics. Excluding the Beatles slash era. Mostly because that's a whole lot of Beatles that I don't want to deal with. I doubt anyone really cares beyond "Music, yay!", so I'm not going to tell you which songs go with which fics. It's kind self-explanatory anyway, since I like to use song titles as fic titles. There's not a lot of variety, which would explain a lot.
FMA:
Bob Dylan - Masters of War : Whee. A vicious attack on war. Harsh and strangely beautiful. Somehow it manages to sound like a folksong.
Elbow - Switching Off: Delicate and sad. It creates a strange lump in your throat.
Radiohead - I Might Be Wrong (Live version): That guitar line sets the tone: grinding, hard, and relentless. And the rockish, angry edge? Perfect on so many levels.
Radiohead - Where I End And You Begin (The Sky Is Falling In): Dark, dark, dark. It tastes like black.
Blur - Battery In Your Leg: Spacey and sad. Damon's wail and Graham's weird guitar effects create this strange, dissonant air.
Stereophonics - Maybe Tomorrow: Yearning, so much of it. For some reason the line "Maybe tomorrow / I'll find my way back home." keeps haunting me. It sounds so old skool and seventies as well.
The Strokes - Take It Or Leave It: Light and bouncy. Compared to most of the stuff here it's feel-good.
Harry Potter:
Sigur Ros - Samskeyti: Atmosphere. That's the only way I can think to describe this. Oh, and at 6 min. 33 sec. it's the shortest track on the entire album.
The Thrills - Don't Steal Our Sun: It's so vibrant and warm and sun-shiny. WARM FUZZIES.
The Flaming Lips - It's Summertime: Weirdly melancholy, but still sweet. The Flaming Lips make me so happy.
Blur - Out of Time: How much do I love the album Think Tank? I want to have its babies. Seriously. Babies. And this song is one of the standouts.
Moby - Porcelain: Moby should really get more love from me. This song is so delicate (I have to stop using that word, omg) and melancholy and beautiful.
---
I should totally do a version full of music that I think people need to write fic for.
